In order to obtain a commercial driver’s license in PEI, drivers must demonstrate their knowledge of these traffic rules in a written exam and in a practical driving test. Before learning to drive a Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 or Class 4 vehicle, you must get authorized instruction in the class of vehicle you want to be licensed in. All applicants holding or receiving a Class 1, 2, 3, or 4 driver’s license must provide a satisfactory medical report upon initial application and on a regular cycle. You must take a written commercial and sign test and a vision test. You will also require an air brake endorsement for those vehicles equipped with air brakes.
